![]() To me this is a toy and not a serious paint software product, and the exclusion of all vector graphics from the edition we get makes it even less useful. I'd like to suggest that the so called brushes on their website be made available as a zip or 7z archive containing ALL the PNG files instead of having to download them one at a time. There are reasons why it meets the vendors claims of "Flame Painter is a unique paint software that lets you easily create original artworks" every "artwork" is original because there is no precision possible when drawing, the so called brushes are generated by random patterns presented in a PNG file so you cannot design a brush deliberatly, it's just a matter of trial and error, It is unlikely you'll be able to plan an artwork in advance and then draw it, more likely import a raster image background, add a new raster layer and draw some random squigle and then and some other raster layer to try make sense of the squigle. Now about the program, this is not an artists tool like paintshop or even MS paint. Was only able to submit personal data if I agreed to let them send me promotional emails. Installed this on Vista SP2 and it worked ok, the voucher email from giveaway of the day, ended up in my junk mail folder but the download link did not. It can be done with a good firewall, it can also be done using the systems "hosts" file and can also be done by adding a custom persistant route entry to null route requests to the IP number their website is hosted on, but that is always subject to change if they move hosting providers. The program still runs with those requests blocked but will not find any updates we are not entitled to or adverts for paid pro upgrade or potentially having the license revoked out of the blue. I recommend those who know how to do the same to do likewise once you've validated your license online the first time. Most of those web requests are potentially undesirable, I have since modified my firewall rules so the program is no longer permitted to make successful web requests. Something to do with upgrading to pro edition maybe lets the vendor issue discounted upgrade to pro advert at a later date.Īn automatic check for updates which we are not entitled to normally and this cannot be disabled within the programs prefferences! Which revalidates the license which could be used to kill a license at a future date. Yet every time it starts it does a series of web requests back to the vendors server.
